Casing, baseboard, crown, paneled walls and built-in shelving, scribed to walls that are never quite straight. A lot of good finish work happens before the paint: solid blocking behind each shelf, and miters that are glued as well as nailed.
Staircases, treads, handrails and balusters
Staircases from the stringers up: treads and risers, handrails, balusters and landing railings. A stair is a structure first. It has to be level, solid underfoot and anchored where the railing takes a load, and then the finish can be clean.
Porches, decks, pavilions and structural framing
Covered and screened porches, decks, pavilions, sheds and the framing underneath them. Outdoor wood fails from the framing up, so the ledger, the flashing and the footings get as much attention as the boards on top.
Bathroom remodels and carpentry
Bathroom remodels where the carpentry carries the room: vanities, trim, paneling and the framing behind the walls. Most bathroom problems start behind the finish, in missing blocking or a wall that was never flat.

Wood moves with Connecticut humidity. Trim stock should sit in the house before it is cut, and miters should be glued and backed. That helps the joints stay tight once the heat comes on.
Creaks usually start with treads that were only nailed. Treads glued and screwed to solid stringers, and balusters anchored into the rail, give you a stair that feels solid underfoot.

It depends on the material, the length of the runs and the condition of the walls. Paint-grade trim costs less than stain-grade oak or walnut, and old walls take more scribing. You get a price once we have talked through the project.
